FROM WORDPRESS TO AFTERCODEIN DEVELOPMENT

You were always
the builder.

The tools are changing. Your eye for a good website still matters.

Take what you learned in WordPress into an Astro workflow. Build with your AI agent, finish visually in Aftercode, and give clients a CMS of their own.

WHERE YOU LEARNED

You learned to see what works.

WHERE YOU GO NEXT

Same eye. New possibilities.
01 / THE PART WORTH KEEPING

Remember when
it first clicked?

You moved a section. Changed the type. Gave the heading a little more room. And suddenly, the page looked like the idea in your head.

Maybe it was Elementor. Maybe Bricks, Etch, or a theme you knew inside out. You could see what you were making, change it, and see it again.

You learned how a page should flow. How to make a business feel like itself. How to build something a client could actually use.

That's experience you get to keep.

AND THEN THE CHECKLIST GREW

A simple site.
A lot to look after.

The brochure site is five pages. The checklist is longer. Theme updates, plugin compatibility, licenses, backups, staging, and another round of checks before you touch production.

Now an AI agent can help you build that next site in a normal code project. You can give it the brief and work through the implementation together.

But you still want to reach into the page and fix the bit you can see. And your client still needs somewhere to change Tuesday's opening hours.

That's the work we're building Aftercode for.
YOUR NEXT PROJECT CAN WORK DIFFERENTLY

02 / A DIFFERENT WAY TO GET THERE

Your next site.
Here's the idea.

The agent handles much of the implementation. You bring the brief, the judgment, and the final decisions. Aftercode is where you and your clients work on what comes next.

  1. 01 / BUILD

    Brief your agent.

Use Codex, Claude Code, or your preferred agent to build a regular Astro project on your machine. You set the direction, review the work, and test the result.

    Your editor. Your project.
  2. 02 / REFINE

    Open the canvas.

The planned connection brings your local Astro site into Aftercode in the browser. Work on the final type, spacing, and content adjustments visually.

    Your eye. Your finishing touch.
  3. 03 / CONNECT

    Give it a home.

The hosted workflow will connect your GitHub repository and Cloudflare hosting, so client previews and publishing can run without your local server.

    Hosted connection in development.
  4. 04 / HAND OVER

    Invite your client.

Choose their approved sections and editing permissions. They will be able to update content and images, check the preview, and publish from their browser.

    Client workspaces on the roadmap.

THIS PART SHOULD FEEL FAMILIAR

A little smaller.
There. That's it.

Some decisions are easier to make with the page in front of you. Try the controls, then switch to the client view.

One place. Your view, and theirs.

Go on. Change something.

03 / WHAT YOU GAIN

Good reasons for
your next move.

The benefits come from a different way of building, publishing, and looking after a content site.

01

Give each page less to carry.

Astro produces HTML for your content and lets you add JavaScript where you need interaction. A useful starting point for a fast site, with performance still shaped by your images, scripts, and design.

ASTRO FOUNDATION
02

Publish files. Simplify the runtime.

A static site can serve its published pages without a running PHP application or CMS database. Hosting can serve the built files directly. Forms, search, and other live features still need a solution.

STATIC SITE BENEFIT
03

Work where your agent works.

Astro components, CSS, and content files live in a regular project. Your coding agent can read and change them, and you can review the actual code. You keep your choice of editor and agent.

YOUR NORMAL DEVELOPMENT TOOLS
04

Make the tiny change yourself.

That heading wants a little less weight. That gap wants a few more pixels. Aftercode is being built so you can make those adjustments by looking at the page, alongside your local development workflow.

AFTERCODE VISUAL WORKFLOW
05

Carry your best work forward.

Keep useful layouts and components in your own Astro starter. Reuse the patterns you trust. The planned client editor will let you choose which sections a client can add and change.

REUSE TODAY · CLIENT CONTROLS PLANNED
06

Keep a project you can take with you.

Aftercode is being designed around a self-contained repository, including published content and media. The site should keep building and running if you stop using the editor.

FOR THE BUILDER IN YOU

New stack.
Same good instincts.

You learned to build with Elementor, Bricks, or Etch. You know how a great website should look and feel.

Bring that experience with you. Aftercode puts familiar visual control around the Astro sites your agents create.

A CMS YOU CAN HAND OVER

Go to Aftercode.
Change it yourself.

That's the handoff we're building toward. A client can change their opening hours, add a project, or publish a post without sending you a ticket.

You choose the components and sections they can use. They get their own login, a live preview, and control over their content. All in the browser.

ONE PROJECT IS A GOOD START

Try it on the
next right brief.

You can explore a new workflow without moving every client at once.

A business or agency websiteServices, a team, a few case studies, and a clear way to get in touch.
A portfolio or campaignA considered design, content pages, and room for your own components.
A content site with regular updatesThe longer-term target for client editing, once the hosted CMS is ready.

A busy WooCommerce store, membership platform, or site built around specialist plugins needs a separate migration assessment.

BEFORE YOU ASK

Good questions.

Here's where we're headed.

Do I have to leave WordPress completely?

Start with one suitable project. You can keep existing WordPress sites and clients where they are. Aftercode is aimed first at static Astro sites, so your next brochure site or portfolio is a more natural place to try the workflow than a complex shop.

Will it import my WordPress site?

There is no automatic WordPress import or builder conversion planned for this first version. An existing site needs a deliberate rebuild, with content and media transfer, URL and redirect mapping, metadata, and functionality checked before launch.

How much code do I need to understand?

This workflow includes a real development project. An agent can help with implementation, but the developer still needs to run the project, understand its structure, review changes, and diagnose problems. Aftercode is for making visual work easier within that workflow.

What happens to my forms, SEO, and plugins?

Review what each feature actually does. An Astro site can include metadata, structured data, redirects, and forms, but those need implementation and verification. Existing WordPress plugins do not automatically transfer. Commerce, memberships, and custom integrations need their own plan.

Can clients edit while my computer is off?

That is a core requirement of the planned hosted product. Clients will have a web workspace for content, media, approved sections, preview, and publishing. The GitHub and hosting connection will support that workflow independently of the developer’s machine. This is still in development.

Does this remove all maintenance costs?

A static deployment changes what you maintain. Project dependencies, build tooling, integrations, domains, and content still need attention. Pricing for Aftercode has not been announced, so we are not promising a particular cost saving.

What can I try today?

The interactive editor on this page is a concept demo. It lets you try visual controls and switch to a client view. It does not connect to your files, create an account, or publish a site. The hosted product and client workflow are in development.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COMES WITH YOU

You know what
good looks like.

Bring that to your next site.
